Reflections on my first week at DRM

Well it’s the end of my first week as Interim CEO at Diversity Role Models and I wanted to share a couple of thoughts.

Happy birthday to us: four years old today!
It’s four years today since DRM registered with the Charity Commission. And what a long way we’ve come. We’ve delivered over 1,050 workshops, seen nearly 25,000 young people and now have 270 trained role models.

Annual Report 2014
As we look back on our third full year of operation in our latest annual report and accounts, it’s inspiring to see how Diversity Role Models has grown. When I founded the charity in 2011, I was the only employee. We finished August 2014 with six fantastically talented staff members, 200 inspirational role models and countless valued supporters.

DRM celebrates delivering 1,000 workshops
Leading anti-bullying charity Diversity Role Models has today delivered its 1000th workshop to tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. Since the charity was founded in June 2011 it has reached 22,833 students with their message of acceptance and inclusivity. This includes an estimated 1,370 young LGBT people.

I Am Michael - a lesson in empathy
Last night I went to see the UK premiere of I Am Michael at BFI Flare, the London LGBT Film Festival. The film tells the real-life story of Michael Glatze, an American former gay rights advocate who now identifies as heterosexual, denounces homosexuality and is the Pastor of a church in Wyoming.
