Diversity Role Models has recently introduced a brand-new position of ‘Head of Volunteering’ and we are delighted to welcome Ray Lau to the team. Ray joins us at a time of exciting growth and development, where we are seeking to engage with more volunteers from all around the UK and from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Here’s what Ray had to say upon joining the Diversity Role Models team:
“It’s an honour to take on this role, especially as our charity is growing and reaching more schools and young people than ever before. Our latest impact report shows that in the past year, we connected with 268 schools and over 45,000 young people - an incredible achievement that reflects the power of our mission. I look forward to building upon this success in developing and supporting our volunteers to even greater achievements.
As I step into this role, I’m truly inspired by our volunteers—the heart and soul of what we do. Volunteers bring important conversations into classrooms, share their personal stories, and help create safe spaces where students can explore and embrace diversity.
I recently had the chance to attend a workshop and see for myself the amazing impact our volunteers have. I also joined a training session for new Role Models, where I was deeply moved by the personal experiences they courageously shared about significant moments in their lives.
It was a powerful reminder that volunteering is at the core of our charity, and I am committed to supporting our volunteers in every way possible.
Looking ahead, I’m focused on growing our volunteer network, improving training and resources, and making sure every volunteer feels valued and empowered to make a real difference. I’m really looking forward to meeting and working with all of you, and I’m confident that together, we can continue making positive changes in schools across the country.
Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community. I can’t wait to connect with you all and help amplify the impact of our vital work. Together, we can truly embrace difference and work towards ending bullying for good.”
